In 2009, I packed one suitcase and one carry on. I got in a plane, moved 3500 miles away, and didn’t look back. I left behind 95% of my belongings and started 100% new.
It was the best thing I’ve ever done. Living a minimalist life was wonderful. I had nothing on my walls. I had a bed and desk in my room. My walk in closet had my entire wardrobe hung neatly in less than 12″ of space. I loved it.
But circumstances and life changes change…well…everything.
I married a maximist and had twins. Suddenly, my wardrobe was stuffed, everyone and their mother started donating boxes upon boxes of baby stuff to us, and my house got very full very fast.
Fast forward again…my twins are now 3.5 and we have a new addition who is a couple days shy of 11 months. My house drives me crazy.
And we are moving again. In a couple months.
So! Here it comes guys. I am majorly downsizing our lives and reclaiming my minimalist roots. No more allowing my home to be stuffed and jam packed with…..stuff! So much stuff! No more!
I’ve tackled some pieces here and there the past 6 months but I am at my breaking point. Mama bear has emerged. LET THERE BE TRASH BAGS!!!!!
I don’t know if I’m going to share before and after’s or not. The level of clutter and packed to the brim is pretty intense. And I hate it. But I will definitely be journaling about my process and what methods work best for me.
So, have you ever minimalized your home? What methods did you use? Where did you donate things? Did you find selling things to be worth the time? Share with me your experiences! A suffocated minimalist needs to know!!!
As always, thank you for reading and I’m glad you’re here with me. 💞
